Emergency Measures - Employment Protection Program ANTIVIRUS (as of 3rd April 2020) (No. 896)

The government approved another change in the ANTIVIRUS program to help protect the jobs. Employers will be provided with a contribution to compensate wages of employees who cannot work due to the COVID-19 infection and to which the employer pays the wage compensation.

The employer is entitled to the contribution if it fulfills all the conditions and submits a flawless application. The most important conditions include the payment of wage compensation to employees working based on employment contact (not applicable for those who works based on “dohoda”), payment of sickness and pension insurance, and restriction of operation due to one of the following obstacles:

In this scheme, the contribution is intended for those employers who (i) have employees or all operations in quarantine or (ii) have had to close operations due to´the government decision (i.e. hairdressers, theaters…). The state contribution is 80% of the paid wage compensation up to a maximum of CZK 39,000.

In this scheme, the contribution is intended for those employers who have limited their operations as a result of: (i) quarantine or "nursing“ of at least 30% of employees; (ii) lack of resources (raw materials, products, services) necessary for their activity; (iii) reduced demand for goods and services. The state contribution in this scheme is 60% of paid wage compensation up to a maximum of CZK 29,000.

The applications can be submitted electronically from 6th April 2020 to the local Labor Offices (available only in Czech). The forms of applications will be published on the Labor Office website. Detailed information for employers including the application procedure can be found here (available only in Czech). According to official information, the authorities plan to check applications thoroughly.
